OKAY GUYS I’M STARTING TO BE REALLY FED UP HERE WITH YOUR LIVE SHOWS! PLEASE PUT SOMETHING UP THAT TELLS US WHEN THE NEXT SHOW IS ON!!!! I WAITED MY ENTIRE WEEKEND IN ANTICIPATION FOR THE SHOW AND NOW YOU SAY IT WAS ON THURSDAY????
………………..
anyways, please do something about this or you’ll lose fans to the i-tunes podcast and maybe even the D6 Generation.
~annoyed listener
P.S. Maybe a calender on the website telling us when the show will be aired with real dates and times would work(make damn sure its got Pacific Standard time too).

I read a novel called Warrior Brood where Mantis Warriors faught Tyranids. And it seems they are able to shift in some kind of “battle rage”. It made the the fights a bit boring cause when things went desperate one went into battle rage and did some suicide attack. I wanted to mention that because of the babaric theme you do with your Mantis Warriors.

Well, i’m glad this arrived. To the annoyed listener above, perhaps you should take things a little more calmly, i mean, these guys are only human.
They do a great job for us, perhaps you could cut them a little slack?
Although, a calender would be a great idea, to let us know both when live shows will be, but also the events your planning to go to and if shows will be recorded there.
Keep up the work!

While I can understand the frustration, they try to tell us a definitive date at the end of each show and post they next show time on Twitter. It easy to miss but to say they don’t tell us the show time is bull.

Hi,
If you’ll look to the right of the page under the “Live Feed” box you will notice a section called “Future Shows and Events”. That will be the place to look from now on to keep informed of the upcoming 40kradio goodness.

35 gay points for mentioning Kelly Clarkson.
So with the e-mail is Chipley now a permanant part of the show? Spencer and Scott do great, but ever since Phil left we needed a good third to round out the show. Plus Scott must be thrilled since he’s got an underling now.

MORE MORE MORE JAR JAR. His unbridled sense of humor is sorely missed by some

smooth spencer! instead of defending yourself, you just delete all my comments. what the matter afraid to stand up for yourself and explain where all the money goes?
same thing as on the forums. just delete and hide anything that has to do with phil or the freebootaz money.

TO BOBTHEBUILDER
1. Phil left the show almost 6 months ago. We gave an explanation… on multiple episodes after he left.
2. It is obvious you are trying to start a flame war. And to what purpose? The money raised goes back into the show. Hosting and Equipment being the biggest expenses we have. Check the prices on dedicated servers if you doubt that. Next check what the cost is for doing between 13-17 TB of download a month. This runs about $800 per month. And before you ask, a simple hosted account will not allow the amount of simultaneous connects we need to allow everyone to have access to the website.
3. We do a live show every week, inorder to do that we have to have a business internet account….cost about $200 per month.
This adds up to $1000 per month to have this show up and running.
June 17th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
you gave one explanation, that lasted about 5 seconds.
I think it is just fair that you explain where the membership fee goes.
message boards take up hardly any bandwidth.
this website hardly takes up any.
13-17TB of what? there are tons of podcasts out there that put out more then you guys. they host on ustream also. sometimes twice a week. they dont charge. they might take donations.
and it looks like you are getting raped on charges.

The hosting sites you are talking about do not allow enough connections at one time. We were on a cheaper solution and then got kicked off because we used too much system resources. Tabletop Gaming News had this same problem.
Those cheap sites offer “unlimited bandwidth” but can only have 30 people connected at one time. We have up to 1000 people connected at one time….this requires a dedicated server….not a hosted website.
Having over 50,000 downloads per week….equals a ton of bandwidth. We also host the webzine here which does over 200,000 downloads….ahhhh…ya…more bandwidth.
One more thing….we have awesome fans….the entire 40K Radio Nation. The Freebootaz are the most dedicated of our listeners, we thank them for their support of the show.
Something that is interesting to me is that there are a ton of other podcasts out there that charge $10.00 a month for the same thing we offer here!!!
June 17th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
Seriously Bob, do you not think they spend money to put this on? Back a few months ago they explained the bandwidth and server issues. And I know I’m not the only one who doesn’t mind keeping this show going. And for $25 a month, that’s cheap. You get 4 shows a month, bonus content, and the forums. Yeah other places might charge $10 but they also do a lot less than 40k radio. So just drop it.

Not to thorw some gas on the flames, but if you really have an issue with paying to be a Freeboota…DON’T. They COULD make it mandatory to be a freeboota to listen to the show, but they don’t. I’m not a freeboota at the moment because while $25 isn’t much, for now it is for me. When I get to a better financial position I will become one because I like many many other fans of the show truly appreciate what the guys do here. My current work schedule doesn’t leave me time to play so this show is my only real connection to my hobby and I appreciate it as many others do. Everything they do costs money and I’m sure for a good long while, Spencer and Phil paid for it themselves before the Freeboota funds got to the point of covering costs. If you have an issue with the cost of being a Freeboota, don’t be one. If a free weekly show is still too much for you to deal with then just go away. You won’t be missed.
June 17th, 2009 at 9:16 pm
ok, I will admit I came off like a jerk. and I apologise. I enjoy the show, and download it every week. It just seemed like people need to know what their money is going to.
June 18th, 2009 at 9:44 am
And that issue has been mad clear on several occasions. When the freebootaz began they said it was to help pay for the costs of running the show. When the price increase came, they explained that it was due to their old provider kicking them off and they needs a dedicated server to run things. They asked the listeners for ideas on how to keep it going. None of us are paying blindly. We know that thes cost a lot of money when they get as big as 40k radio is and we as listeners who enjoy the show want to keep it around.

I have just started to get into the show, I think it’s great. Wish I could listen live but I am UK based.
Keep up the good work, I intended to become a FB just to help this podcast going.
June 20th, 2009 at 8:23 am
So the show will be posted each Moday? Is that after Froday, but before Hoday? Just joking, but yeah we need jar jar back
June 21st, 2009 at 4:53 am
Hi,
I can’t believe that you guys are getting flak from people. The show is awesome! I personally feel a little guilty at ONLY paying $25 a year to be a freeboota, I can’t imagine all the costs involved let alone the massive amount of time that clearly goes into the show, website, forum etc.
If anyone has an issue, as DON states above, if you don’t want to pay then…don’t! You can still download the episode free. I’ve been listening from about just before christmas, and now there is not a lot else I listen to on my ipod – 40k radio makes me look forward to my walk to work!

Naaw missing the 2-3 hour shows. Ah well its still good enough.
And could you guys maybe try to update the polls a little more regularly. Even if its only once a fortnight. I think its pretty clear now that Rough Riders aren’t worth it….
Keep up the awesome work!
